Welcome
Dear friends,
Welcome to our website.
More than ten years ago, God led my wife and me to this church to grow and serve alongside brothers and sisters. Athough NYCBC is a large community in Christ made up of different language groups, those who attend the church feel that they are part of one family. Not only do they feel loved and cared for, they also have a sense of belonging and are motivated to use their gifts and talents to serve.
Our church’s mission statement is, “Empowering God’s People, Blessing our World.” We recognize that the way to build mature disciples is through a spiritual development path: as we pursue life’s purpose of “worship,” we need to be “converted,” “connected,” “cultivated,” and to “co-work,” and finally be “commissioned” to minister to unreached people and lead them to experience “conversion.” God’s will is for us to develop “Ever-growing Communities” to attract people, build people and help them be committed to God’s purposes. We rejoice in doing this and never tire of it.
We are thankful to the Lord for giving us the vision to expand the church building in 2003. We purchased the adjacent land on 685 Sheppard Ave. East with plans to build a Gospel Building to facilitate the spread of the gospel to our rapidly growing community. For the past ten years, God has shown us that He is the one who can create something from nothing. He is faithful and reliable. We had the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Gospel Building in November 2010. By God’s grace, construction is expected to be completed by May 2013. The Thanksgiving & Grand Opening Ceremony is set for October 12. Currently we are also making plans for the usage of the new Gospel Building so as to broaden our caring services to the needs of the Cantonese-speaking group, Mandarin-speaking group, the English-speaking group, and other ethnic groups.
Our church theme for this year is “Gratitude for Grace Thus Far, Press on to the Future in Unity”. We pray that God’s love will constrain us to accomplish His mission with thanksgiving hearts: “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Eph 4:12), and together we will write a new page of history for NYCBC. If you desire to have a deeper understanding of Christ and to advance the Kingdom of God, you are welcome to join our worship and experience the abundant grace of Christ.
May God richly bless you!
